Affordable Squat Racks under 600 Dollars

Written by

With home-gym setups becoming a preferred option, you’ll want to make sure you’re getting the best deal on a squat rack without having to spend weeks or months deciding on which one to pick. Here is a short list of some popular but affordable squat racks under 600 dollars that we’ve observed.

Affordable Squat Racks under 600 Dollars

Rep Fitness PR-1000, 1050, PR-1100

It’s difficult to start any affordable squat rack list without adding the REP Fitness PR-1000 series racks to it. Indeed, this company may show up a couple of times on this list. The PR-1000 is still one of the primary entry-level power racks on the market. Assembled and with its 2″ x 2″ 14-gauge steel frames, it weighs 144 lbs while supporting up to 700lb. Assembly is very straightforward, and the PR-1000 has some optional attachments, such as a lat pull-down and dip station. If you have limited vertical space, you can choose the shorter PR-1050, which stands 72″ tall. Just keep in mind that you cannot add the pulley system with the shorter model.

Alternatively, you may choose the PR-1100 model, which stands 84″ tall but offers even more features such as a multi-grip pull-up bar, landmine, weight storage extension, and color options. Out of the three, the PR-1100 is probably the model to choose if space isn’t an issue. All three of these options start well under $600, and with REP Fitness now offering free shipping, you may be at $600 even after adding the attachments.

PR-1100 FEATURES

  • Height Adjustable Multi-Grip Pullup Arch – Built for traditional, neutral, close, and wide-grip pullups with standard 1.25″ bar in front and 2″ bar in back. It’s inverted design accommodates low ceilings and athletes of various heights, while pullup band attachment points also help with pullup progressions, mobility, and resistance work.
  • Laser Engraved Numbered Uprights – Make fast and accurate adjustments for your J-hooks and safety bar. Stop the guessing games and get on with your set.
  • Plastic-Lined J-cups – Metal on metal is no dice, so we line our J-cups with UHMW industrial-grade plastic to keep your barbell quiet and scratch-free.
  • Extended Safeties – The PR-1100 has your back! Chrome plated safety bars extend generously from the rack and can also hold an extra barbell. (We recommend using plastic-lined J-Cups to protect the finish of your barbell. Snag another pair for extra storage.)

REP Fitness SR-4050

Another affordable squat rack under 600 dollars is the REP Fitness SR-4000 series. If having a full rack is not an option, the SR-4000 series still offers the same capabilities in a smaller footprint. With its 3″ x 3″ 11-gauge frames, it supports up to 1000lb. You’ll need sufficient ceiling clearance for this model as it stands 94″ tall. There isn’t a shortage of accessories with this model either. The SR-4050 series accepts most of the optional attachments of the PR-4000 power rack series, including a mono-lift, belt-squat, and iso-arms. But, again, this model is built for the athlete in mind, and while starting shy of $600, you’ll get back every penny.

FEATURES:

  • Two height options to suit your needs ( 96″ &103″).
  • Sturdy 3×3” 11ga steel.
  • Compatibility with most REP 4000 series attachments.
  • 1” spacing throughout the bench press area.
  • Base-mounted weight horns for weight storage and added stability.
  • Long base with pre-drilled feet for optional floor-mounting.
  • 103” height option is great for taller athletes who want to perform kipping movements.

Thanks to its extra-stable and versatile design, this squat rack offers as much utility as you’d expect from a power rack at a fraction of the cost – squat, bench press, banded movements, pull-ups and much more. Make it your own by adding upgraded J-cups, spotter arms and other REP 4000 series attachments!

Rugged Fitness Y-100

Ready for another pair? Next on the list is the Rugged Fitness Y-100, an excellent rack that weighs over 268 lb when assembled. Its 2″ x 3 ” 11 gauge frames help it support up to 1000lbs. The Y120 is a commercial-grade rack for all intents and purposes but often finds itself in a garage gym. The Y100 features Westside hole spacing, an electrostatically applied black coating, and includes j-cups and safeties. In addition, the Y120 supports a rack extension for weight storage, lat attachment, dips, and ball target for addons.

Since it is already quite stable there isn’t a need to secure it to the floor.Pound for pound this is probably one of the best affordable squat racks under 600 dollars.

Rugged Fitness Half Rack – Y120

Yes, the Y100 has a younger sibling, the Rugged Y120 Half Rack. Like the SR-4000, the Y120 is for those who need the same capabilities of a full rack in a smaller footprint. You’re not missing out on anything. The Y120 also supports up to 1000lbs, features Westside hole spacing, and uses the same optional attachments. There is no more to it. It’s the same thing, just smaller and at a lower price.

Well, those were four affordable squat racks under 600 dollars, and although I’m tempted to add more, less is more in this case. You don’t have to go to Amazon or Walmart and gamble on the quality of a rack or spend thousands of dollars. These four models will work for most people, or at least send you in the right direction if you end up purchasing something else.
