Top 5 Affordable Power Racks

With so many options of power racks and combo deals, I wanted to put together a list of the Top 5 Affordable power racks that I’ve noticed people seem to be happy with based on general conversation and our Affiliate statistics. Almost all of the items on this list end up being on someone’s top list year after year because they’re great products and are usually upgraded in some manner every couple of years.

Top 5 Affordable Power Racks

Rep Fitness PR-4000

The PR-4000 by Rep Fitness is a powerhouse and should be everyone’s list of consideration at some point. With its 11-gauge 3″ x 3″ frames, the PR-4000 supports up to 1000 lbs. Moreover, the customization options for this model are next to none. Buyers are able to choose from several color options, depth and height, or add number of optional attachments from multi-grip pull-up bars, lat pull-down, to adjustable iso-arm and belt squats. It’s one of the most customizable racks on the market.

The PR-4000 features Westside Hole Spacing and includes j-cups and safeties. In addition, REP Fitness offers free shipping, so you can save a couple of dollars or use the extra money for additional add-ons.

Body-Solid GPR-400

The Body-Solid GPR-400 is another rack worth looking at, especially for small fitness clubs or if you need a well-built short frame. Assembled, the GPR40 stands 79″ tall and usually has no issue fitting in locations with limited vertical space. This model is also constructed with 3″ x 3″ 11-gauge steel frames and supports up to 1000 lbs. Also, there is no need to bolt it down as it weighs 273 lbs when assembled.

The GPR-400 features 1-inch hole spacing, pull-up bar and comes with j-cups and safeties. It also has a few optional attachments to choose from, such as lat pulldown, dip handles, multi-grip chin-up bar, and T-bar row attachment. The price is higher on this model but it’s been higher. I’ve watch the price slowly come down several hundred dollars of the last two years. Keep in mind that the GPR-400 is a commercial grade rack backed by Body-Solid.

Light Institutional, Limited Lifetime Warranty; This Warranty applies only in the United States to products manufactured or distributed by Body-Solid, Inc.(Body-Solid) under the Body-Solid brand name. The warranty period to the original purchaser is as follows:

  • Frames, Welds – Lifetime
  • Pulleys, Bushings, Bearings & Hardware – 3 Years
  • Cables, Upholstery, Grips and all other components – 1 Year

There is free shipping for the lower 48 States. It’s a great rack that will last you for years to come, and I think that with its build quality, options, and warranty, it deserves a spot on this Top 5 affordable power racks list.

The Rugged Fitness Y-100 is another commercial-grade rack that has grown in popularity over the last year. The Y-100 uses 2″ x 3″ 11-gauge steel frames to support up to 1000 lbs. Assembled, it weighs 268 lbs. This model features Westside hole space, an electro-statically applied powder-coat finish, and, of course, has optional lat-pulldown, dip bar, and rack extension attachments. Included are J-cups and safeties.

While the Y-100 doesn’t have free shipping, it does start at just $695. I’ve seen this model as low as $559, but you have to keep your eye on it and be ready to purchase when there is a sale. It may be the best value on this list. You can also find the Y100 in a combo deal that includes the lat pulldown, incline bench, bar holders, and weight horns.

Rep Fitness SR-4000

Well, not everyone wants to maintain a full power rack and would prefer something a little more … minimal? Minimal in size only because the SR-4000 series squat racks can do just about everything the PR-4000 can. While taking up less space the SR-4000 supports up to 1500 lbs with its 3″ x 3″ 11-gauge steel frames. There are two height models to choose from, 96″ and 103″ (Unfortunately, the 83-inch is no longer an option).

More importantly, the SR-4000 series supports all addons for the PR-4000 series racks, including the mono-lift, iso-arms, and belt squat. The SR-4000 series is a lot of fun, and at $529 with free shipping, it is definitely one of the top 5 affordable power racks or squat racks available right now.

Rep Fitness PR-1000

In closing this Top 5 Affordable Power Racks list, I must add the Rep Fitness PR-1000. This model is great for first-time buyers, those on a budget, and those just getting started in weight lifting. The PR-1000 uses 2” x 2” 14-gauge steel frames and supports 700 lbs. It weighs 144 lbs and stands 83″ tall.

If you have limited vertical space you might consider the shorter 72” model, the PR-1050. (The shorter version cannot use the lat pull-down system)

The PR-1000 squat rack features numbered uprights, 2” hole spacing, j-cups, and an extra bar holder. Optional attachments include a lat pulldown, dip bars, and weight storage extensions. The PR-1000 starts at $359, making it a very affordable but durable option.  Lastly, there is also the PR-1100 model that offers a few more attachments and color options, so check that out if you’re interested. The PR-1000, 1050, and PR-1100 are all in the same ballpark in terms of price.
