Body-Solid GPR400 Power Rack For Low Ceilings
If you need a solid power rack but space is an issue, the GPR400 from Body-Solid is an excellent power rack for low ceilings. The GPR400 measures 53” L x 52” W x 79” H, and because it is just under 7ft, it should fit in most homes. In fact, it’s a light commercial-grade rack that you could put in a home gym, garage gym or a fitness club.
Build & Warranty
You may have seen or used the full-commercial variant of this power rack before. It’s common to see Body-Solid squat racks in gyms around the country and you always know you’re getting a quality rack that can handle a ton of beating. The GPR400 is a Light Commercial and comes with a lifetime warranty on the frame and is constructed with 11-gauge 3″x3″ steel frames, making it a very strong and durable piece of equipment. When assembled, it weighs 273lbs and has a weight capacity of 1000lbs, and has an integrated 1 1/4″ bar that feels great while performing pull-ups and chin-ups.
Body-Solid racks are typically very stable and the GPR400 is no exception. At 273lbs, it’s already quite heavy and you can add weight horns for additional stability and storage. The GPR400 comes standard with pipe & pin safeties and J-cup liftoffs.
The Body-Solid GRP400 has an optional lat pulldown attachment, multi-grip chin-up bar, dip handles, t-bar row, u-link, and weight horns. Most of the attachments are pretty inexpensive, but the lat pulldown will set you back another $525. However, when you consider the amount of space it will save you and the additional exercises it provides, the cost of the lat pulldown attachment is worth it.
The lat attachment is plate loaded but you can add the 150lb selectorized weight stack if you choose. When looking at the cost of other attachments, the weight horns are $30 per horn, $38 for the t-bar row, $59 for the dip handles, and $110 for the multi-grip chin-up bar.
The Body-Solid GPR400 starts at $795 before adding any attachments and the shipping is free to the lower 48 states. You get the lifetime warranty on the frame and welds as part of the Light Commercial Warranty, and you have the peace of mind that this rack will last for decades to come.
If fully upgraded, the GPR400 can easily amount to a little over $1,600. However, to find a cheaper light-commercial power rack of this quality that is fully loaded will be difficult. With it’s shorter height, the GPR400 should on your list of options if you’re looking for a power rack for low ceilings.
