The Kospet Vision is a standalone smartwatch running a customized version of the Android 7.1 OS. This customized version of Android gives the user full access to the Google Play Store and many functions of a smartphone.
What you get
The Kospet Vision appears to be a hybrid of other watches we’ve seen before, namely, the Kospet Optimus Pro and Kospet Hope 4G. Even so, the Vision is going in the same direction of most newer smartwatches with a dual-camera setup.
Both cameras are 5MP, with the front-facing camera being useful for video calling, selfies, and facial “unlock” recognition. The Kospet Vision launched around the same time as the Kospet Prime, which is a larger watch with much more battery life.
The Vision has a 1.6″ IPS display running a resolution of 320*320, making the screen larger than most Kospet smartwatches. On the back, you’ll find the sim card slot, heart rate monitor, and the four-pin charging and data transfer connection.
The straps are made of silicone and leather but are non-removable due to the GPS and 4G antennas placed inside. The overall design of the Kospet Vision is impressive, but the non-removable straps are disappointing considering the watch comes with various accent colors. It would have been nice to change the straps to match.
The Vision weighs 86g and its dimensions are 27.40 x 5.08 x 1.75 cm. It’s still a large watch, but not as large as others in the market.
The Kospet Vision is running the MediaTek 6739 processor at 1.25Ghz with an 800mAH battery. Kospet claims 24 to 36 hours of usage from one charge, but your battery life will depend on how you use the device. Certainly, 4G/LTE data and social media apps with push notifications can drain the battery faster than expected. Still, on average, you should get a full 24-36 hours of usage.
The Vision has 3GB of ram and 32GB of internal storage. Kospet has yet to release a 1GB/16GB option. As mentioned earlier, the Vision launched around the same time as the Prime.
Navigation is fluid and responsive, but you’ll often need to use the built-in application adapter by holding down the “power button” and selecting the icon at the top of the screen. It changes the orientation of the apps from a circle to a square, allowing you to see more of the application’s content. See the Janus & Lokmat X360 review for pictures of what this looks like. This is necessary for most apps since most of them weren’t designed for full Android smartwatches.
Finally, the Kospet Vision comes with an IP67 rating which they call “Life Waterproof”. This means the watch is safe from sweat and light rain.
The Kospet Vision has a 4G LTE radio unlocked for any GSM carrier. Check the specs below to see if your area supports the bands. In the United States, T-mobile, AT&T, Cricket, and MetroPCS work fine.
Bluetooth 4.0 is available for using headphones or sending and receiving files, however, there is no Bluetooth calling with any Android 7.1.1 devices due to Google’s restrictions. GPS works excellent with Google Maps, Uber, Yelp, as well as the included Fitness applications provided by Kospet.
Android smartwatches come with their own fitness applications with activities such as Outdoor Running, Walking, Indoor Running, Bike Riding, and a few others. With many of the Android Smartwatches, the pedometer is used to track distance. Fortunately, the Kospet Vision uses GPS integration with the included fitness apps, and you can also install Google Fit, which also works with the GPS module.
The Vision uses the WiiWatch 2 companion app to pair with your smartwatch but pairing restricts some of the smartwatch’s capabilities like responding to text messages and notifications. If you’re wearing it and have a separate (sim) number, you can respond to SMS and notifications. However, if you’re connected to Bluetooth and receive a text on your phone, you can see the message (on the watch) but can’t reply. To remedy this, you can install the Droid Assistant App. Otherwise, the WiiWatch app is mainly used for viewing health data and changing watch faces.
There is a 1-year warranty for manufacturer defects and you should check the product pages for return policies.
