LEMFO LEM 10
The LEMFO LEM 10 is a standalone smartwatch running Android 7.1.1. LEMFO released both a 1GB/16GB and a 3GB/32GB device with a 1.88″ square display. The prices on this page are assuming you plan to purchase the 3GB/32GB, black from China. Depending on where you purchase, there are different prices based on color and shipping.
The LEMFO LEM 10 should not be confused with the LEMFO LEM X which is a circular smartwatch; rather, the LEM 10 is a rectangular device desired by those who like the Apple Watch form factor, but with an Android OS. If you’ve owned a full Android smartwatch in the past, the functionality is the same on LEM 10. Only the shape of the device has changed.
LEMFO LEM 10
The LEMFO LEM 10 has a plastic and metal casing with nylon or two-tone leather straps. The straps are replaceable and do not require screwdrivers for removal. On the right side, you find a rotating crown, microphone, and the power button. On the left side, you have the sim card slot which you’ll need a special screwdriver to open.
The camera has been moved to the front of the device on this model and allows video calling. It’s a 2MP that scales up to 5MP. Most Android Smartwatches have 2MP cameras that scale so this is not unusual. While it’s not the best resolution, you’ll find the camera suitable for taking some decent pictures and video calling.
On the back, there is a heart rate monitor and four-pin charging and data transfer connection. This model doesn’t come with a charging dock; instead, it comes with only a USB charging cable.
The LEMFO LEM 10 has a 1.88′ LCD IPS display with a resolution of 320*360. Like most full android smartwatches, the LEM 10 is a large device. People with small wrists may want to consider something else unless you’re into large watches.
The LEM 10 is running the MediaTek 6739 with a 780mAh battery. The MTK6739 is the processor that powers most of the Android 7.1.1 smartwatches and usually, it’s a dual MediaTek 6739 + NRF52840 which gives the device two operating modes. Typically, you have a full 4G mode and a LiteOS mode which turns off all cellular functionality to save battery. The LEM 10 doesn’t have the dual modes but the 700mAh battery makes up for it by giving you little over a day of battery life.
A day and a half may not sound like much, but when you consider the large screen, full android applications, and 4G LTE connectivity, it’s not bad. Ultimately, your battery life will depend on how you use and optimize your watch.
The LEMFO LEM 10 comes with 3GB of ram and 32GB of internal storage but also has an economical 1GB/16GB option. The navigation is fluid, and anyone that has used an Android device will find their way around the OS just fine. Even though the watch is powered by Android 7.1.1, it’s a modified version of the OS with its own widgets and navigation panels.
Being that the LEM 10 mimicks the Apple Watch, the rotating crown is a little disappointing. It’s basically a back button and provides very little functionality, you can’t even scroll through applications. The side button under the crown will take you to the home screen if pressed once, and to the quick toggles menu if long-pressed.
There is an additional application drawer that looks and acts similar to the Apple Watch home screen; however, the corner widgets are only for show and will not launch applications. The applications open, but the widgets are only for show. You can turn this Apple-like drawer off if you want and return to a traditional Android applications panel.
The LEMFO LEM 10 comes with an IP67 rating and detachable bands. You should be ok with rain and sweat, but IP67 isn’t suitable for high-velocity water activities.
The LEM 10 comes with a 4G LTE radio unlocked for any carrier. You can check the specs below to see if your area supports the bands. In the United States, T-mobile, AT&T, and other GSM carriers work fine. Bluetooth 4.0 is available for using headphones or sending and receive files. However, there is no Bluetooth calling with any Android 7.1.1 devices due to Google restrictions.
GPS works excellent with applications like Google Maps and Uber but not with the built-in fitness applications provided by LEMFO. LEMFO could push out an update to fix this and I’m surprised this functionality isn’t standard yet.
Essentially, these Android smartwatches come with their own fitness applications with activities such as Outdoor Running, Walking, Indoor Running, Bike Riding, and a few others. If you want to track your distance using GPS, the watch doesn’t have that functionality even though GPS is on board, it uses the pedometer instead.
This is annoying because all manufacturers in 2019 know we want GPS tracking our activities. The problem isn’t that the applications use the pedometer, the problem is that you can’t change the widgets where the inaccurate data is shown. This isn’t good for fitness enthusiasts.
Still, if you want GPS tracking, you there is nothing stopping you from installing Google Fit or any other fitness applications you desire from the Google Play Store.
You can connect LEMFO LEM 10 to a smartphone via the WiiWatch 2 application, but you cannot reply to messages and notifications, only receive them.
You can get assistance from LEMFO when you have a hardware or software-related issue. However, you may find the Full Android Watch forum helpful for tweaks, tricks, and to see what others in the community are doing with their full android smartwatches.
