The LEMFO LES4 is a standalone smartwatch running a customized Android 7.11 operating system. This customized version of Android gives the user full access to the Google Play Store and most of a smartphone’s functions in a smartwatch.
LEMFO LES4
What you get
In many respects, the LEMFO LES4 is similar to the older LEM X with a rugged and outdoor feel. However, this particular model comes with a smaller 1.6 IPS display with a resolution of 400 x 400. Its appeal, similar to the LEM X, is its simple design.
The LES4 has an 8MP side-facing camera flanked by two large operational buttons. Unfortunately, the bands are not replaceable, although a picture shows the LES4 without straps on LEMFO’s product page. Non-replaceable straps aren’t a big deal as most full Android Smart Watches don’t have them due to antenna placement.
On the back, you’ll find a heart rate monitor, charging pins, and access to the nano sim card tray. Potential buyers will appreciate this straightforward design with no bulging cameras or oversized bezels.
Battery
The LES 4 runs the MediaTek 6739 quad-core processor clocked at 1.25 GHz with a 900 mAH battery. Also, the LES4 has an optional 900 mAH power bank for extended battery life. On average, the LES4 will give you close to a full working day of battery life. Of course, this is dependent on how many push notifications and installed applications. 4G LTE can drain the batteries rather quickly.
Usability
The LEMFO LES4 has 1GB of ram and 16GB of internal storage. At this time, there doesn’t seem to be any plans for LEMFO to offer a 3GB/32GB model. The apps run smoothly, and moving throughout the OS using the touchscreen is fluid. Of course, the primary benefit of full Android smartwatches is access to the complete Google Play Store. Just keep in mind that some applications are not designed for full-Android experiences on a smartwatch, and you may need to use the build-in orientation toggle.
Lastly, this model has an IP67 waterproof grade. Sweat and light rain won’t damage the watch, but submersion could be disastrous.
Connectivity
The LEMFO LES4 has a 4G LTE radio unlocked for any GSM carrier. Check below to see if your area supports the bands. In the United States, T-mobile, AT&T, Cricket, and MetroPCS work fine. Bluetooth 4.0 is available for using headphones or sending and receiving files; however, there is no Bluetooth calling with Android 7.1.1 devices due to Google’s restrictions. GPS is also available and works excellently with Google Maps, Google Fit, Uber, Yelp, etc.
Fitness Applications
Android smartwatches come with fitness applications with Outdoor Running, Walking, Indoor Running, Bike Riding, and several others. You can also install Google Fit or any fitness applications from the PlayStore, but the built-in apps work nicely and built into the widgets.
The LEMFO LES4 uses the WiiWatch 2 app to pair with your smartwatch, but pairing restricts some of the smartwatch’s capabilities. If you’re wearing it and have a different number (sim), you can respond to SMS and notifications. However, if you’re connected to Bluetooth and receive a text on your phone, you can see the message (on your watch), but you can’t reply. To remedy this, you can install the Droid Assistant App.
Support
LEMFO offers a 60 Day warranty on full Android smartwatches. Please see LEMFO’s shop page for details on returns, shipping, and warranty information.
