The Powerline PPR500 Half Rack or squat stand is on par with some of the commercial racks in terms of its durability. For anyone interested in starting a home-gym, the PPR500 offers similar functionality of a power rack without taking up as much space.
The Powerline PPR500 Half Rack is a Body-Solid product, and you can expect a top-quality and durable workstation backed by a great warranty. While the PPR500 stands 83” tall, it’s still shorter than many half racks and squat stands on the market, allowing you to place it in areas with limited vertical space.
Also, half racks give you much of the same functionality of a power rack without taking up too much space. When assembled, the PPR500 weighs 112.6 lbs. supports up to 700 lbs. on its 2” x 2” heavy-gauge steel frame. Included are J-cups and safety spotter arms.
What sets the Powerline PPR500 Half Rack apart from other half racks is its optional attachments. The Half Rack extension will extend the stand, allowing you to store weights, add u-links and other addons, and provide spotters access.
Additionally, there is a lat-pulldown and T-bar row attachment, which isn’t typically found on half-racks in this class. Extensions for this model aren’t overly expensive. The lat-pulldown will run you an additional $300 but considering the additional functionality it’s well worth it.
The Powerline PPR500 Half Rack comes with a 10-year warranty on the frame and 1-year on all parts.
If you have limited vertical space and don’t want a full power rack, the PPR500 is a great option considering its durability, warranty, and optional add-ons. If you need something that holds a little more weight, you may want to have a look at the SR-4050 by REP Fitness. However, the SR-4050 is missing the attachment options and stands 94″ tall.
In the class of shorter half-racks, the Powerline PPR500 is hard to beat, especially at its price point.
