SoundPEATS TrueBuds Prices
|Price history for SoundPEATS Truebuds|
The SoundPeats TrueBUDs wireless is the latest true wireless design from SoundPeats with 14.4mm drivers, full touch controls, fit-in-ear style, and decent battery life when you factor in the charging case capacity.
What you get
The SoundPeats TrueBUDS isn’t the first earbuds I covered by SoundPeats. In late 2019, I purchased the SoundPeats TrueEngine SE earbuds and boldly claimed that they were the best set of earbuds under $50. That claim still stands, but the TrueBuds might be a better option for those looking for an Airpod style alternative.
The Truebuds have a fit-in-ear style that feels much more comfortable than the silicone ear tips on the TrueEngines SE. If you enjoy listening to audio before bed, and you’re a side sleeper, the TrueBUDS will feel a lot better. Since this model doesn’t have silicone ear tips, you’ll only receive a manual, earbuds, charging case, and a USB-C cable in the box.
The charging case holds a 2600mah battery and features both a USB-C and micro-USB port. This is a nice addition since you can charge the case using the USB-C cable and use the micro-USB port to charge your smartphone or any other device. In essence, the charging case for the earbuds is also a charging brick for any other device that uses a micro-USB port.
The batteries in the Soundpeats TrueBUDS are only 35mAH, giving you approximately 3.5 hours of playback for each earpiece before they need recharging. In comparison, the TrueEngine SE earbuds have 50mAH batteries and offer 6 hours of playback. However, the TrueBUDS provide better battery life overall, as you can recharge them up to 20 times with the case for a total of 70 hours of playback time.
Which style do you prefer?
One of the best features of SoundPeats earbuds is that they control everything and the TrueBUDS are no different. Just like the previous model, the SoundPeats Truebuds control playback, volume, and can launch your virtual assistant – whether it be Siri or Google Assistant.
Each earbud has separate functions. Pressing either multi-function button once will pause or resume playback. From there, the right earbud requires a double press to increase volume. Holding down the right button for a second will skip to the next song, and a triple tap will launch Siri or Google’s Assistant.
On the left side, double pressing it will decrease the volume while holding for a second will go to the previous track. Most true wireless earbuds at this price point don’t have volume controls, so the multi-function buttons on SoundPeats earbuds makes them much more valuable.
The SoundPeat Truebuds feature the Qualcomm QCC3020 chip, Bluetooth 5.0, and aptX codecs to deliver an immersive Hi-Fi sound. These are the same specifications found in the TrueEngine SE model, but somehow the TrueEngines sound a little better and have more bass. Most likely, this could be due to the design since the TrueEngines’s ear tips sit in the ear canal while the TrueBuds have a semi-in-ear style.
Still, they have decent bass and the mids and highs sound surprisingly good for earbuds at this price point.
Pairing & Water Proof Rating
The initial pairing is simple, hold down the multi-function button until it flashes red and white, then go to your Bluetooth settings on your smartphone and complete the pairing process. After the connection is completed for the first time, the earbuds will auto-pair when you open the case. Lastly, the SoundPeats TrueBUDS have an IPX5 (rain and sweat) resistant rating.
